The studio

Two engineers.
One room.

5Hunnid4teen Recordings is a partnership between two Musitechnic-trained engineers with over a decade each behind the desk.

About us

Named for the 514

5Hunnid4teen takes its name from Montreal area code. The studio was built for the artists making music here.

We are a working studio, not a rental space with a laptop in the corner. Every session is run by one of us, both graduates of Musitechnic, both with more than ten years of production behind us, both still in the room every week.

The focus is on urban music: rap and hip hop, R&B, and pop. That is what we listen to, that is what we know how to mix, and that is who the room is set up to serve. Sessions run in English or French.

The booth

A room that stays out of the way

The best vocal chain in the world still cannot fix a bad room.

Our booth is properly treated with broadband absorption on the walls and ceiling, so what the microphone captures is your voice and not the space around it. That means a cleaner starting point, less corrective EQ at the mix stage, and a vocal that sits forward instead of fighting the beat.

Room acoustics are Quinton specialty, and the treatment gets revisited as the setup evolves. It is the least glamorous part of a studio and the part that matters most.
